About:

Mr. Tony Merritt received his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Illinois Wesleyan University and his Masters in Social Work from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. He is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), and has been an associate with the CBA office since 2003. He began clinical service providing care for children and youth in the residential care setting, as well as out-patient work with youth and families experiencing significant poverty and home disruption. He has experience in serving individuals, couples and families with a wide array of needs related to marital therapy, family systems, parenting, mood disorders, ADHD, and self-care.

 

Over the past two decades, Mr. Merritt has enjoyed building relationships with different domestic ministries, seminaries, and missionary sending organizations. Relationship length with several organizations have been well over a decade. He has the privilege of assisting with Pre-Field psychological assessments, psychological assessments for those entering formal ministry capacities, and Needs Assessments for missionaries and pastors who are experiencing personal hardships related to burnout, marital functioning, and emotional health needs. He also provides significant therapy and consultation for pastors and missionaries during their time of personal need. The types of ministries served include a plethora of missionary-focused ministries (health care, teaching and international schools, church planting, business as missions, college campus, relational ministry, house of prayer, refugee care, etc.), campus ministries, domestic church planting, domestic ministry hiring/on-boarding, disaster relief, homelessness/poverty-related ministries, and immigration. He enjoys the utilization of assessments to encourage, empower and equip individuals, couples and organizations serving in these vital capacities.
